actually 候 has an old obsolete reading, 候う（そうらう/sourau) that specifically followed the stem form (which in this case is the 死に/shini part) and means the same thing as add ます/masu to the stem. The command form is 候え (そうらえ/sourae) and thus you get 死に候え/shinisourae
so coolie4 was right all along
Just wanted to let you know about a slight translation error.
The title comes from: 愛する者よ、死に候え。
But the kanji 候 in this instance is read as そうろう(sourou/sooroo) not soura.
i can't remember, but i copied this phrase from somewhere... i think...
